First,

Second,
If you are using OpenOffice old version, you must uninstaling it. Open your console, and run command below.
~$ sudo apt-get remove openoffice*



Third,
Still on your console, move to folder where is the file openoffice downloaded. And than extract it using command at below.
~$ sudo tar -xzvf OOo_3.20_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US_deb.tar.gz


Fourth,
Installing OpenOffice . Move to folder where is the file extracted. And than installing using command below.
~$ sudo dpkg -i ~/OOO320_m12_native_packed-1_en-US.9483/DEBS/*.deb


Fifth,
The last step is crating a menu. For create a openoffice menu, run command at below.
~$ sudo dpkg -i ~/OOO320_m12_native_packed-1_en-US.9483/DEBS/desktop-integration/openoffice.org3.2-debian-menus_3.2-9472_all.deb

Finish,
you can launch OpenOffice via your menu. Click Application -> Office -> OpenOffice
